SUMMER CAMPS 2023

Camps run from 9am - 3pm*. 

Please note the location and age associated

with each program.

Cost: $125 - $300 per child**. 

*All camps run Mon - Fri, with the exception of Aug 8, which starts on Tuesday due to the holiday. Please bring a packed lunch, at least two healthy snacks, a water bottle, clean indoor running shoes & wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty. We suggest packing a change of clothes. If you have long hair, please bring a tie.

**With the support of the Canada Post Community Grant, Baxter Arts Centre is able to offer Supported Tickets this year to make camps more accessible to our community. For each camp, there will be tickets available at a lower rate.

Circus Camp with Kiki & Pyrobelle at Baxter Arts Centre

Step right up and experience life under the big top!

Get ready to move, shake and giggle, it's time to run away with the Circus! At Circus Camp, participants will experience a variety of circus disciplines including balance, juggling, hula hoop, aerial arts and more; with the guidance of professional circus performers & instructors Kiki from North Fire Circus, and Pyrobelle from the Peterborough Academy of Circus Arts.


At Circus Camp, your child will also develop skills in object manipulation, body awareness, stage presence, strength & flexibility; all while having a ton of fun!

July 3 - 7:      Jr. Camp for Ages 6 - 8* @ Baxter Arts Centre, Bloomfield.

July 17 - 21:  Sr. Camp for Ages 8 - 12* @ Baxter Arts Centre, Bloomfield.

*These camps have strict age ranges due to the physicality and dexterity involved in the camp. This age range is set not only for the child’s safety but also to ensure they have a great summer in a program that will challenge them but not be too difficult. About the Instructors

Victoria Wood aka Pyrobelle


Victoria aka Pyrobelle is a multi-talented artist and educator specializing in Circus Arts. She has performed across North America for celebrities, Fortune 500 companies, and family festivals; currently, she resides in Peterborough working with the Peterborough Academy of Circus Arts. Pyrobelle's dream is to share Circus Arts with the world; to champion letting your freak flag fly and making yourself & others happy. She believes everyone has magic within them, and with practice, courage and mentorship, we can all be the ringmasters of our fantasies.

Isabella Hoops aka Kiki

Isabella Hoops aka Kiki is an actor, singer and dancer. She spent 5 years in Edmonton performing in children’s musicals, touring shows across Alberta and B.C., and performing in the Edmonton Street Performers Festival.  Owner of Entertainment company, Kiki has been performing and teaching hula hooping all across Canada for over 7 years and in 2015 she won the CanSpin Award for best hula hooper of the year! She is a diverse circus performer: from fire performing, to mesmerizing LED light shows, clowning and kids entertainment, Isabella Hoops does it all!

Tell Your Story

Explore the wild, wacky and wonderful world of theatrical storytelling.

Driftwood's storytelling workshop teaches young story-makers how to create as a group, build an original script, and integrate improvised sound and movement to build a brand-new, never-before-heard story.

Art Esteem with Sharon Hart at Baxter Arts Centre

Our most popular Summer Camp is back!

Join Sharon Hart for a wide range of activities, including crafting, painting, game creation, & so much more! Each week will focus on boosting your child's curiosity & sense of self, while exploring different media. Featuring special art projects with visiting instructors and local artists.

About Sharon Hart

As a Child and Youth Advocate for many years, Sharon has created and delivered healthy relationship programs to students in grades one to nine in both the public and private school systems. She believes having a healthy relationship with oneself is the foundation to developing strong connections with others.




Lil’ Yogis Nature Camp with Miss T at Various Locations

Enjoy daily nature hikes and play inspired by the changes in the world around us.

During Lil' Yogis Nature Camp, your kids will:

Learn different ways to use their breath • Express themselves through yoga poses • Enjoy mindful relaxation time • Gain confidence and strength in their bodies • Develop a love for creativity and movement

About Tarayn Hiddink

Tarayn is a certified yoga instructor who possesses a 200 hour YTT certificate paired with her Rainbow Kids Yoga certification. She enjoys teaching on her deck overlooking the Bay of Quinte, as well as in schools and libraries. She comes with years of experience working in the Social Service Sector and has been a home educator to her daughter and other children for the past few years.

Painting Camps with Angela Jane Lavender

For the Budding Artist.

Acrylic Skills 

Learn essential painting techniques with professional artist Angela Jane Lavender to level up your budding artists skills! 

Students will learn how to mix colour and practise colour matching; explore the 7 elements of design, paint from thin to thick and learn to appropriately use three grounds in one painting. All of this will culminate with one final piece to be presented to parents in their own art exhibit! 

July 31 - Aug 4: for Ages 10+ @ Baxter Arts Centre, Bloomfield.


Like the Masters 

Taking inspiration from Da Vinci to Van Gogh to  recreate famous works of our art using a variety of materials. 

Students will learn about five famous artists; Vincent Van Gogh, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Gustav Klimt and Leonardo Da Vinci and recreate paintings they are most famous for, using their own unique voice and inspiration. Instruction will be provided and creativity and artistic freedom will be encouraged!

About Angela Jane Lavender

Angela is a local mixed media artist and mom of two. In 2012 she graduated from The Visual and Creative Arts Program at Sheridan College of Art and Design with honours, a silver medal and a 4.0 GPA. Prior to that she studied Art Fundamentals through distance education at AIS in Minneapolis, Minnesota and she just recently obtained her certificate for the Mastery Program virtually through Milan Art Institute in Georgia. She is a member of the Prince Edward County Arts Council and has taught art through the Baxter Arts Centre, The County Arts Lab, and out of her home studio in Picton. She loves sharing her passion for creating with the next generation.
