  • Where is your parking?
Baxter currently has three parallel parking spots in front of the building. Please do not park along Stanley Street or on the sidewalk. This is a safety and bylaw issue.
  • Is there extra parking?
If there are no spots in front of Baxter, please park on Main Street Bloomfield and use our new walkway to our back entrance. You are welcome to park at Empire Inn & Suites or Hickory Homes at certain designated times which are communicated to program participants before each program.
  • Is the building accessible?
Yes, Baxter has a beautiful new ramp available for anyone to use. Please do note that we do not have an electronic doorway just yet.
  • Do you offer free or discounted programming?
With grant support we can offer tiered ticket prices to some of our programs. Programs that are volunteer led are PWYC (pay what you can), cash at the door.  We try to offer a variety of programs that are available at affordable rates. Should you be interested in a program please contact programs@baxterartscentre.org.
  • Do you have programs for adults/youth/children/babies?
We offer programs for all ages. If you do not see a program on our calendar that you’d like to see offered, please contact programs@baxterartscentre.org. Our mandate includes listening to feedback from our community to create amazing programming that you want to attend!
  • How do I find out more about upcoming programs?
To be the first to know about our programs, subscribe to our newsletter. Subscribers receive links to registration before it is advertised on social media.  Want to follow along with our current programs? Follow us on Instagram and Facebook! We also post reminders, class cancellations and more here.
  • I have a great idea for a program. Who do I contact?
We want to hear from you! Email our Program Manager at programs@baxterartscentre.org with a request, a proposal, a question.  Our community has identified many amazing programs that we have been able to bring to life, including children’s Hip Hop, toddler dance classes and drop-in programming. We are looking for instructors who can teach dance, sculpture, photography, children’s programming and more!
  • Do I have to have experience in creating art in order to participate?
Not all of our programs are art related. We are interested in creativity in all its forms: dance, storytelling, music, performance. Many of our programs are for beginners and are identified as an Introduction course.  We also offer Intermediate classes for artists who want to hone a specific skill and Open Studio programs for those currently working on projects.
  • Do I need to bring my own art supplies?
You’ll likely be comfortable with your own supplies for certain programs, however Baxter strives to provide as much as we can.  We currently have drop clothes, easels, paper, and an assortment of brushes, paints and pastels available for communal use. We ask that you clean up after you’ve finished your program and put everything away. Each program will list materials in the “Read More” section. Some programs will include all materials while others will require you to purchase some items to help offset costs. You will be given advance notice should you need to purchase anything for a program.
  • What should my child(ren) bring to camp?
Our camps are full of adventure and exploring. We go to the park and on nature walks, we run around and make up fun games to play. This means we get snacky! We also get messy! Camps are active, and we recommend comfortable clothes that can get dirty. If your child has a favourite top they absolutely adore and they really want to wear to camp, pack a larger shirt they can wear over it during craft time. Baxter provides aprons, however art camp is messy, especially when paint, glue, and sparkles are involved! Pack a large, healthful lunch as well as at least two energy-packed snacks in an insulated lunch container*. Your child(ren) will also need their own reusable water bottle*. We also recommend packing an extra set of clothes and weather appropriate clothing. Do you have a nervous camper? Stuffies are oh so welcome*! They can bring a different buddy every day, just make sure they have them at home time. *Remember to put names on everything that is brought to camp (last year we had four identical unicorn backpacks at one camp).
  • What are your Camp Cancellation Policies?
You can find our Cancellation Policies for March Break and Summer Camp here. Please note that this policy has changed since 2022 due to the increase in our number of camps.
  • What are the hours of camp?
All of our camps run Monday* to Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. *The exception is for camps happening after a long weekend. Camps do not run on holidays.
  • I need to pick up my child early. What is the best way to let you know this?
Please discuss this with your camp instructor when dropping off your child. The instructor will know where the best location for pick up will be. Sometimes we spend hours at the park playing!
  • We will be arriving late to Camp, who do I contact?
If you are going to arrive late for camp please email the Program Manager and Camp Instructor by replying to the welcome email you received. You can also email the Program Manager directly at programs@baxterartscentre.org.
  • My child is on medication what should I do?
